PS3 help (newbie)

Okay, I've just unpacked my new PS3

so does anyone have any recommendations on tweaks/set up.

I'm connected wirelessly to my router (with upnp on), but the dl of the new firmware is taking about an hour compared to 5 mins on my laptop so something isn't quite right.

Also (for Ged) if I search for PS3 on here, it returns no results??

any pointers gratefully received

I'd also be intrested in an answer to this as well.

I've also connected mine up wirelessly. And it took about the same.
I'm just too lazy to run another wire to behind the TV

doing a speedtest at Namesco BroadbandMax ADSL Broadband Bandwidth speedtest | Test your ADSL Broadband connection speed on the PS3 browser gives 892kbps compared to 5500kbps on my laptop (both wireless)

Just rebuilding the Search Index now, if it don't work in about 20 mins will add the Google one back. Hence the forums may be slow at the moment.

Hmmm my ps3 updates are quick infact very quick i have 6mb broadband and cause the routers closer to the ps3 than my pcs.It usually take about 20 mins to download any software updates.And the playable demos on ps3 network are pretty fast as well tbh.This is wireless as well may i point out.

mine is slow also. took me 1hour to download the new feature's on a game (resistance fall of man) but on the 360 it takes secounds. there both within 1 feet away from the routor there side by side wirelessly. but PS3 takes longer. it didnt used to when i 1st joined. as i was on 10mg for 1 week now i just reach 3mg maybe the speed counts

I had the same problem not long ago. I found that changing the wireless channel helps with the speed. I was on 6, im now on 2, and its a lot faster.
