High Pings
So I play a lot of online games on my PC etc, but I've found that since I have switched from BT to Sky, my pings have shot up. Now before we changed ISP, I would get about 30ms pings in counter strike, but now it goes as high as 100ms.
Also I am meant to be on an 8MB connection here and looking at this speed test, I'm not getting to the lines full potential. On my router stats page, it lists my connection as 8096 kbps.
You can see I have a really high ping, and only 5MB upspeed. Is it something on my end? What kind of information would you guys need to see if it's my problem or sky?Last edited by Dibbz; 16-10-07 at 02:21 PM.

Re: High Pings
If you ring Sky, they will lower the Max Delay and so your pings should go down.
~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Re: High Pings
OK so if I ring Sky who should I ask to speak with? I've heard about this Tier 3 thing, but I'm not to sure who or what that is. Do I need to ask for Tier 3 before asking to lower my Max Delay?
Also why is my connection not closer to the potential 8MB? Something to do with the line or router?
Line Attenuation
Up: 10.0 db
Down: 8.5 db
Noise Margin
Up: 14.1 db
Down: 14.0 db
Are those any good?Last edited by Dibbz; 16-10-07 at 04:32 PM.

Re: High Pings
Hi Dibbz
Fill in this online form,http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/kana, & cut- paste this statement from sky '"All
After reviewing the sky forums sites, recent escalations from customers and after discussions with Marketing, please can you implement the following
Should any customer be transferred to Tier 3 and request for their max delay levels to be decreased as a result of them using their broadband connection for Gaming, please arrange for this to be done. You should look to set their max delays at 8. Please ensure you leave the customer with a stable line after completing this."
I did Saturday just gone and received an email Sunday morning telling me my max delays had been reduced

Re: High Pings
Hmm it seems that with some people reducing the max delay helps an dwilth others it just makes things worse. I don't know if I should leave it or I should do something about it. :/
Little help please
