Wireless Gaming for PC
Hi
Made a post in another part of the forums, but seems best to post here.
I switched to Sky BB a couple of days ago and I am using the wireless router for my PC in my room upstairs. I play World of Warcraft but I am getting high ping and it freezes for 5-10 secs very often. This makes it impossbile to play, as people rely on you having quick reflexes and high ping and lag makes this very hard to do!!
I phoned Sky up and they told me to leave it for 10 days, then phone back if the problem was the same
Any advice?
Thanks

Re: Wireless Gaming for PC
Run http://www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe
Then when it loads drag the horizontal scroll bar to the far right and on the bottom of the screen click Optimize and then click apply. On the next window click ok then restart your computer and see if thats any better.
If not do a test on Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test and post the results =)

Re: Wireless Gaming for PC
Wireless works 110% for me, plus if I did it through cable im looking at about 20m+ at least of cable. Thats how far away from the router I am lol

Re: Wireless Gaming for PC
My moneys with AndyL on this, a quick trawl thro this website will reveal loads of complaints about slow download speeds and lost connections, not what you need when gaming. Many are down to using wireless. If you want to fill a bucket, do you take a hose to it or aim from 30 feet away ?

Re: Wireless Gaming for PC
In a quick trawl through this forum I didn't many posts about wireless problems. When connecting wirelessly you need the security password and a good quality signal.
Once you have this set up there should be no more problems than with a wired connection.
Cheers.

Let them have their opinion dholdi, we know we are right! lol
Mabey if you want to play wow it's fine. If you want to play FPS on a public and don't care about your score, it's fine. If you want to compete in high skill, FPS leagues, where one kill can decide a result, you are going to quickly learn to love cables, 20m or not. (Either that, or get used to getting kicked from clans. "I lagged" ain't going to cut it.)
