Improving Pings, other than Max Delays
I have read almost every post on the subject of improving my pings. I had the speed uped from the capped 512Kbps and it is now around 800kbps, I have had the max delays set to 8, unfortunatly I am still pinging high for uk servers and very high playing BF2. Is there any thing else that I can do to improve my pings. Pinging around about 50ms to UK servers any help appreciated.

Re: Improving Pings, other than Max Delays
apart from the initial jump, those pings look alright tbh, dont think your gonna get much lower than that on your line.
50ms on UK servers isnt too bad, and its definetly playable, i'd just leave it as it is, as the only other ways to lower your ping are either a) not supported by Sky BRoadband or b) gonna cost over £100 quid (Killer Nic ethernet port, apparently proven to lower yer pings in games)

i would die to get your pings on sky's weak sauce network
"DSL modems commonly employ data Interleaving, which is a technique to increase resistance to noise bursts on a line. Interleaving "smears" out micro bits of data (interleaves them over time) so that a short burst of signal destroying noise can only remove part of any given larger block"
ie. is SKY's way of enabling a high bandwidth network (your 8mbit/16mbit lines) to the mass'es without sacrificing stability, everyone goes round saying...
"Woo i get 6mbit download on SKY when i got capped at 4mbit from my old ISP aren't SKY the greatest"
What most don't realise is they are losing out on latency for their increased bandwidth.

Re: Improving Pings, other than Max Delays
50ms on BF2 isnt so bad to be honest, I can only just about ping generally at 50 never mind whilst playing on a server with 30 other people.
You latency would be almost unnoticable between 50 and 30 especially on BF2, if it was up around 80-100 then I would be phoning SKY and getting tier 3 to check it out.
I don't think 50ms is unreasonable for BF2 ping.

Re: Improving Pings, other than Max Delays
I was averaging 80-100ms ping to UK servers before my max delay was altered, so I smooched the phone socket when my pings got down to 40-50ms. You really shouldn't be complaining too hard.
