Re: Low Pings WITHOUT Fastpath!!!
Thanks for posting this thread, I have been mulling over which ISP to go with. Coming from bulldog I wanted LLU if possible for the better speeds, lower contention (real or perceived) and stability. Myself and my sons are all gamers so lower ping is always good (I’m a FPS gamer and they are WoW addicts). Upon placing the order with Sky for the Max product, being 190m from the exchange I should get the full 16meg speeds
I asked the operator, Robert I think was his name, for the max_delay to be set to 8 right from the outset. He totally understood my request and has said that this will be implemented. Now I wait for the 10 days to be activated.
Once again many thanks for posting this information, it has swung the balance in Skys’ favour.

Re: Low Pings WITHOUT Fastpath!!!
ur delays will NOT be set at 8 from the outset - there are set line profiles rolled out on activation and all have delays at 32 by default...

Re: Low Pings WITHOUT Fastpath!!!
I was going to say the same thing.
Best thing to do is test your line 3 days after its active. give it a little time to settle. If your pings are too high, then send an email using the online support form (send 2 or 3 even) then it'll get picked up by an Email team, who will more than likely be able to fix it for you.

Kind regards
Angie.
Think I might give them a call at 2am tonight.

Re: Low Pings WITHOUT Fastpath!!!
I had my max delays reduced to 8 when I called at 6am in the morning.
The lady in tier 3 had no problems with it at all.
Being an avid xbox live gamer it has increased my game play no end on GoW and hopefully soon halo3.
I would strongly recommend this for any gamer and top marks for the person who suggested it!
This has kept me with sky broadband.

Re: Low Pings WITHOUT Fastpath!!!
What number did you call?

Re: Low Pings WITHOUT Fastpath!!!
You have to go through the main number but call late at night or early in the morning and then bluff you way past tier one with a connection problem, slow speeds or something once into tier 3 as long as you are polite they should be more than happy to change you max delays.
They were very helpful and totally understood why I wanted this.

Re: Low Pings WITHOUT Fastpath!!!
So far I have tried 3 times and each time I have been told 'Were not a gaming ISP, nor do we advertise this'

Re: Low Pings WITHOUT Fastpath!!!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but......
Its seems that Tier 3 have now been told that they cannot adjust the Max Delay settings anymore because....its not an official procedure yet.
Sorry guys, seems that you'll have to put up with High pings again for a wee while.
But the good news is that if its already been done, they arent gonna set you back to 32
