Low Pings WITHOUT Fastpath!!!

Having e-mailed Sky towards the end of last week about the delays, a very helpful sky engineer rang me today. At first he wasnt sure about lowering the delays due to line instability. However after about 30 mins he rang back and said he had capped my line to 4 megs (no worries there as I never get above 3.5 megs) and lowered the delays. Now pinging bbc.co.uk in the high 40's rather than the 80's . Engineer says I should monitor it over next 10 days. Havent tried gaming yet but it should have made a big difference to my in game pings which were 100+to UK servers. Thought my online gaming days were over for the next year so thanks to everybody on this thread!

ive created a ticket after baffling the tier 1 admin.. i was annoyed they wouldnt put me thru but ive got a call due so ill give till friday and call in.

tier 1 are not trained in Max Delays - tbh its not part of normal tier 3 training!!!

would prob be a lot easier to do it via the web email thingy as mentioned a few posts above...but again dont bother putting stats in as its never needed and just confuses people

im concerned that some people here have gotten through and its working yet when i call up i never get put through to tier 3 admins. ive emailed and i just dont think it will work.. i really want a low ping its untrue.

anybody like to tell me how i can get put to tier 3 admins?

Better off emailing & asking - That's me just had my Max Delay setting dropped from 32 to 8 after emailing Sky via the online form just under a week ago. Cheers to the original poster for the tip !!

Pings have deffo dropped - down to about 40ms / 50ms from the 70/90ms (sometimes up to 200ms!) that I had previously.

For those in the know!! Can you advise on the below?

I'm wondering if I can improve my latency further by getting capped at 2mb? I'm on Mid just now and only actually get 3.5mb download speed on my line anyway. (I'm supposed to be able to get 6.5mb on my line, but I've never achieved anything like that), but would like to retain my download cap of 40gb a month.

Everyone, after emailing technical support using the online form, they've emailed me today and told me they've lowered my max delays to 8. Still to check it as I'm at work.

i take back everything i said about Sky, i got through to Tier 3 finally by saying my line was slow and my connection was dropping, and he did some funky stuff and took him about 20 mins and there was no difference, so i said any chance u could put the max_delays down to 8 and he goes nea bother.

everything sorted, back to my pre-sky ping with my superduper sky dl speeds.

I pretty much asked the same thing, im on my 4th e-mail to them. They keep asking me to change filters, plug the router into the master socket. Grrrr why cant they just listen
