Re: Gaming on SKY is a no go!
i think your right ninja sky pings arnt as good as some isp's but i have noticed that more people on the forums are reporting their pings are getting slightly faster and i think maybe sky has realised there is a problem ad are trying to resolve it [i dont think we will ever get the 10ms pings on sky but i would hope that pings of 20-30 ms will become more prevelant as sky sort out their llu and connect problems [i usually get pings of 40-50 and have adapted the way i play and on certain servers to optimise my gaming experience] [usually involves me being shot but it doesnt make it any less fun

Sky's a 'no go' for gaming. maybe i`m dreaming but we have an x-box 360 and nintendo wii connected and no problems here!

Re: Gaming on SKY is a no go!
I'm on Mid, having switched from BT ADSLMax, where I was getting pings of 30-60ms for UK servers, 150-200ish for US ones. Nothing spectacular, but playable.
Since changing to Sky, my pings to UK servers are regularly 80ms+, and US ones... really, forget about it. Regularly 300-400ms and beyond, making playing with US hosts on Xbox Live an exercise in masochism.
I've tried getting through to Tier 3 but I realise an improvement of 20ms isn't going to make much difference to the majority of my games, perhaps making my UK ones a bit more tolerable. So far I just get fobbed off by Tier 1 telling me there's nothing they can do, even when I tell them explicitly to get Tier 3 to sort out the Max Delay on my line.
As soon as I can, the Sky's getting the shove. Useless. I basically just don't play on Live any more.

Re: Gaming on SKY is a no go!
well how about instead of asking tier 1 to put you through for max delays. You go through for a slow connection speed. Do not mention pings. its not a supported issue. see if that works.

Re: Gaming on SKY is a no go!
Tried that. They just go into an interminable list of "suggestions" about moving the router closer to the socket blahblah. Even when I've gone through their checklist with them and answered "yes" to having tried all the solutions I don't get so much as a sniff of being passed on to Tier 3.

Re: Gaming on SKY is a no go!
@ the doctor... What is "error code 300"??
So if you phone sky say you have error code 300, they put you through to tier 3 and then what?
Want to try this myslef but i want to get it right the first time...
thanks

Re: Gaming on SKY is a no go!
Error code 300 is failure to gain an IP can be various reasons a comon one is a stale session at the exchange which needs cleared. Tier 3 can do this. no doubt tier1 will still insist u run through the chart but it should point them to t3.
when u get through ask about it.

Re: Gaming on SKY is a no go!
Moved over from Namesco to Sky Mid 3 weeks ago. Noticed straight away that my ping went up. Have followed alot of the forums suggestions about contacting BB Support about the Max Delays settings from 32 to 8. Thought I would try the online support form route.
Have asked them to reduce my Max delays from 32 to 8. Sent in request yesterday evening so will see what happends (if anything at all).
Connection Speed 2304 kbps down 416 kbps up
Line Attenuation 63.5 db down 31.5 db up
Noise Margin 8.8 db down 14.0 db up
