Re: PS3 connection problems
Have you turned off UPnP in the router's admin interface?
Many people find that UPnP can cause disconnections....
... however, it's also needed for XBL & other things if you don't want to manually forward ports.
So, with UPnP off, you need to forward the relevant ports for Xbox Live, & presumably PSN.
The XBL ports are here: Xbox 360: Port settings for Xbox Live
See this post for how to forward the XBL ports on the Sky router -

I don't yet have a PS3 (waiting for more games & a price cut), so don't know about what ports, if any, are needed for PSN.
Also......
Have you had any disconnection problems with the PC at the same time, or is it just the 360 & PS3 which seem to drop the connection?
What do you use for each device (360, PS3, PC) - wireless or ethernet?
Have you noticed if it's actually the router rebooting which is causing the disconnections?Last edited by Tezcatlipoca; 08-05-07 at 01:18 AM.

Re: PS3 & 360 connection problems (was Re: PS3 connection problems)
The port numbers for PLAYSTATION® Network servers used for this are TCP: 80, 443, 5223 and UDP: 3478, 3479.
For voice / video chat and online game play, direct communication with other PS3™ systems is used for data transmission during voice / video chat and online gaming. The port number used for this is UDP: 3658. However, you may need to use a different port number when you are connected using a NAT router
Straight from the help site. so should be reliable.

No update yet for the firmware (although there is a new version "coming soon").
You could try flashing with the standard Netgear firmware for the DG834GT, however it is against Sky's terms & Conditions to do so. I've also read many posts here from people who have tried the standard Netgear firmware & found it no better.
How do you connect each device? Ethernet or wireless?
Do you notice if anything else (e.g. PC) disconnects at the same time as the PS3?
Is the net connection dropping, or is it actually the router rebooting?
Does it tend to do it at the same sort of time of day?
What are your router's stats?

Perhaps it's actually the router losing connection due to a falling noise margin?
Also, do you have anything else hammering the connection while playing? e.g. Any P2P software on the PC? I found that Bit Torrent software could cause the router to reboot if the connections & speeds were too high.

Re: PS3 & 360 connection problems (was Re: PS3 connection problems)
That could be due to a falling noise margin then.
Noise tends to increase in the evening, causing noise margin to decrease. When it gets too low, the connections suffers & then finally dies. The router then reconnects at the highest speed it can get with a noise margin of 6.9dB (meaning a slower speed than before if the NM is falling).
