Re: what number do people call for fast path
eh, are you on fast path and have a ping of 70+? or do you have a ping of 70+ on interleaved and want fastpath.
If its the latter we will not do this. however if your on fastpath and have a ping of 70+ we would need to look at that.

Re: what number do people call for fast path
Nice play on my words there, I was asking as it was unclear. I have no doubt we have people on fastpath alot have been done manualy for say testing puproses but it is not done as a practice and any lines found on fast are often changed and remain stable.
If you have a ping of 70 on interleaved post us up some stats using the tools located around the forums. and if it looked good or bad will advise you on where to go next. but 70ms is not extreme.

Re: what number do people call for fast path
@guinness - from your words I take it that "we" means you are employed by sky, if so I applaud you for stating so on here. Why on earth tho would you change a persons line from fastpath to interleave just because you noticed. I can understand it if there is problems with stability but why change it if the customer is not reporting a problem ? As for your statement regarding 70 not being extreme a quick browse of the threads "located around the forums" would suggest that a lot of online gamers disagree. If this is skys policy then maybe they should be informing potential customers of the fact.

Re: what number do people call for fast path
i was very careful not to mis-quote what you said guiness.
my reply from sky stated "Sky does not implement fast path" and you have now confirmed it is possible for users to be put onto fast path through whatever means.
i cannot get a ping of less than 50 at all, whereas i was regularly getting 25/30 on my old isp.
i am unhappy with the service provided by sky again. everyone i have dealt with their seems to either be a liar or incompetent.

Re: what number do people call for fast path
Okay instead of taking this away from the point. do you have a ticket raised?
if so and your getting a high ping on interleave there is a few things that can be tried to reduce this. however the policy still stands that customers do not get on fastpath.
There are customers on fast path who may have been placed on that for testing purposes or by someone without authorisation doing so. It would however be unwise to insinuate that someone will do this for you.

Re: what number do people call for fast path
i phoned sky and gave up trying to talk to the person on the phone as he kept telling me to log into my router etc etc etc.
instead i emailed customer support but this was no use either.
i will try customer services again, but from what i have read no one hears back on this issue even when they have a ticket raised.
i would rather just pay more for a better service elsewhere.

Re: what number do people call for fast path
Im gonna back up Guiness here.
IF a sky Broadband customer is on Fast Path, this is accidental. Either they have been a) left on it from tests which were performed on their line, b) put on it unofficially, or c) set up incorrectly to begin with.
I am aware that there is a team who are returning all lines on fastpath to Interleave, as this i what their line should be set to, and there is no way around it. Even if you were to contact one of the upper level support teams, they would deny you the choice of putting you on fast path.
