Re: bt sport and freesat
if you are on a sub they send new cards out auto free
I already have Sky digital satellite equipment - what else do I need?
All you need to gain access to the free channels available on the digital satellite platform is a Freesat from Sky viewing card, which costs just £25. If you’d like to access the interactive services available, you’ll also need a working phone line. To purchase a viewing card please phone Sky on 08448 244 400.Last edited by shakey1980; 12-05-13 at 02:27 PM.

Ok, can anybody answer this one? If you cancel your Sky subscription but maintain a subscription to Setanta and Zee TV. If Sky change viewing cards for security purposes who is responsible for replacing your viewing card so that you can continue to enjoy your TV viewing subscriptions that were not purchased from Sky.

Re: bt sport and freesat
The worst that could happen is that you would have to pay £25 for a new viewing card. Is your current card white with card number beginning 36 or greater?

Re: bt sport and freesat
Card should be fine but from your description it may not be paired to the Sky box you are using. This would not be a problem for non-premium channels however at this time it is unclear whether BT sport will use the decryption function that Sky usually reserve for their own premium channels. As you do not have a current Sky subscription customer service would not re-pair your card to your current box and the online re-pairing facility would not work. In this situation, assuming you are not interested in taking out a new Sky subscription, the only alternative would be a one off payment of £25 for a Freesat from Sky viewing card which Sky would be able to re-pair to your current box.

Re: bt sport and freesat
Liverpool FC, BT Sport 1 and 2 HD are currently free to view. If BT maintain the same level of encryption when there sports channel go live just adding the requirement to subscribe then there won't be any problem. Hopefully this will be the case however at the moment BT's intentions are unclear.

I see that PlusNet staff are testing a TV service and "this will extend to our customers in the near future but as yet, have no fixed timings for a public launch".
