I see Channel 5 HD is now available on Sky - any ideas when it's coming to Freesat ?

It may not, unless they can get a space on an Astra 2D transponder. They have a UK only licence so have to ensure their content isn't freely available to the rest of Europe. Astra 2D is fairly focused on the UK so prevents the need for encryption.
There is no p in Thomson.

I only have freesat from sky and C5 HD is on there
