      Freesat Fiasco

I know we all complain from time to time about Sky at it's updates. However if you want to see how NOT to do it take a look at the people who bought Freesat receivers from Goodman, Grundig and Alba. The manufacturer issued an ota update and it bricked many/most of the boxes set to auto-update - and that was 5 days ago and still no sign of a fix. The moral of the story is clear - don't buy toy boxes, get a decent brand.

I suspect many average buyers thought Grundig was a quality brand. Now almost two weeks into the saga and no obvious resolution to the problem so the other moral is to use a system like Sky where there is decent level of support from the company concerned.

As we are going through the digital switchover in my area currently, this is going to require three or so re-tunes in the space of a month or so.

Now for me that's not really a problem but trying to get my mum to do it over the phone, well that's another thing.
