Exclamation Intermittant loss of some channels

My dad has Sky freesat with a 4 year old card and over the last year he intermittantly looses some freesat channels ie bb2 bbc3 bbc4 itv1 ch4 movies for men+1 and some others. Then for no apparent reason they come back.
Now last night I installed a different sky box (Pace DS445NB) and all was working fine, signal quality and strength were both 50%. Then when I got home I get a call saying all the above channels are not being received with either of the two following messages;-
      No satallite signal being received
This channel has a technical fault please try later

Today the above channels are still not being received. Who knows they may come back today, tomorrow, next week or even next month. This is what was happening with the old sky digibox.

Does anyone have a clue whats happening?
Does he need a new card?

      Awaiting anyones information.

Chances are that it is either a signal problem or a faulty LNB.

You would be best to call a local contractor to come and give a quote for the work.
