I don't think C4 get any money subsidised, hence why they get sponsors.

The only programs I would watch if they were available would be:

      Time Team
      Friday Night Project

So I won't be subsidising them.

      Re: E4 on FreeSat

Iíve never watched any programme on Sky Channel 796.
But I can also understand why others might pay to watch it.

And in the case of Channel4, the Government gave them a
      specific remit.
      Publicly owned, funded by advertising,
"diverse and innovative programmingĒ and free to view.

Ofcom may not be able to stop broadcasters signing
      dumb contracts with Sky.
But itís not too late, with the imminent launch of Freesat
from BBC/ITV, to lobby Ofcom on behalf of the viewer.

Channel 4's current contract with Sky expires in 2008.

I've read somewhere (can't remember where!) that once that happens, Channel 4 will switch from Free-to-View to Free-to-Air, while E4 & More4 will switch from subscription-based to Free-to-Air.

[QUOTE=Tezcatlipoca;96460]"Channel 4's current contract with Sky expires in 2008."

Interesting news, especially with the launch of
      Freesat from BBC/ITV in 2008.

But will the Sky negotiators out-fox
Channel 4 the way they did Virgin.
One muck up is enough, even for a virgin
      negotiator.
