BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Freesat service gets green light
Freeview and Freesat (from Sky) is confusing enough.
Now BBC and ITV announce a new joint venture: Freesat. (27/4/07)
As Freeview has technically such a geographically limited service
this is good news.
But are they really going to call it Freesat?

Re: BBC/ITV Freesat
Freesat (BBC/ITV) was originally announced in 2005.
The BBC owns the trademark "Freesat", which is why Sky call theirs "Freesat from Sky" (& may end up having to change it when the BBC/ITV one launches).
Freesat will be Free-to-air.
Freesat from Sky is mostly Free-to-air, but also Free-to-view (as some channels e.g. 4, Five, etc. require a viewing card.)
