      Hi scubbie,

I had a question. I wanted to change my Sagemcom f@st 2504N router for a Netgear DGND3700 N600 router which I have already bought from PC World.

I am havng problems with coverage through out the house. I specifically asked them (PC World) if this would be appropriate to use. They said I should no problem setting this up. All I had to do was call sky broadband and ask to sync the new router with there service. So I called sky. They said I can not use any other product other than what they have provided and there is no other help to rectify the problem since we they have tried to change a few setting via the routers control panel & had not worked. Which is why I went to PC World!

So I needed to know from you whether there is a chance to use this new route & how can I set it up. I did have a go at setting it up with help of Netgear customer services. I got stuck on PPPoE, VPI, & VCI setting which sky won't help with.

I need help to find a solution. If you have an idea how to fix this problem using the sky router or by using the new router. I still need help!!!

      Yours sincerely. Shaz19.

The staff at PC World know very little about ow to set up a potato peeler, why would they know anything about a router?

Sky won't tell you how to set it up as it isn't one of their routers.

However, the settings you need are:

      Encapsulation: PPPoA
      VPI/VCI: 0/38
      Multiplexing: VC Based

Also which version do you have of the DGND3700? The packaging will clearly identify a v2.

Anyone who believes everything PCW say, must also believe in the Xmas fairy.

Scubbie did not mention it. but if your line is MER only, you have little chance of connecting this router properly. What does it say under Status in the WAN line of your router statistics?
