Manufacturers are lazy, employ built-in obsolescence & will not change unless forced to.

      Mr Dyson is no different.
My Dyson seems indestructible! It fell/I pulled it, down the stairs a few weeks ago and it still works. I've pulled the cord out of it so I reattached it with electrical insulation tape and a screwdriver. All the parts are easily dismantled to clear blockages (frequent with cat hairs). The filters are washable. It's as good a machine as I've ever had. Lasted much longer than any other vacuum cleaner. 5 years so far. It's second hand too!

I have heard people say that the newer machines are made in China and don't last as long. When did they move it to there? Is mine an old one or a new one?

Does it not have a label or something to indicate where it was made? Of course it may have come off by now.

There are a couple of places where you can get your Dyson fully serviced or you can easily pick up secondhand parts on the Internet too.

Provided that you don't drop it down the stairs too often, it should last a little while longer yet.

Lol :-) That looks like one of them crappy rechargeable car vacs with a handle stuck on it. :-)
I actually have something similar I use for cleaning around my desk, Much better than one of those puny battery ones... Wouldn't use it as the main Vacuum cleaner though.

So because the New Compliant Vacuum cleaners are less powerful people will need to use them twice as long to try and get the same amount picked up... genius

It isn't just that you'll need to work for twice as long. Lets face it, anyone with a deep pile carpet will never be able to get it cleaned with a 1600watt vac, let alone a 900watt one.

EU to ban high-energy hair dryers, smartphones and kettles - Telegraph

Doesn't concern me as I don't have any, hair or grass that is and I don't drink brews.

Scubbie and Gymno may be concerned though.

      Why?
I see no mention of lawn mowers in that article.

Not that it would matter if there was.

Re: Ten days left to vacuum up a powerful cleaner

After seeing the lawnmower/tricycle it gave me an idea.

Two vacuum cleaners operating in tandem.

      First paragraph :-

The European Union is considering pulling the plug on high-wattage hair dryers, lawn mowers and electric kettles in a follow up to its controversial ban on powerful vacuum cleaners.

      Oh dear.
I skimmed over that thinking it said smartphones.

Or was i in subconscious denial?
      It does matter really.
The truth is i'm just not fit enough for this kind of thing.

      edit
Hang on, there's no mention of petrol powered mowers.
      Aaaand relax.
