Normandy 70
Ok, if you haven't noticed there is a lot of coverage this week on the BBC regarding the 70th Anniversary of the landings in Normandy.
Well today I was at Southsea watching some of the action and taking a few pics.
It's alright, I won't be posting them all. I'm still going through them too, but here are a few for those of you who may be interested...
Landing Craft waiting in the middle of the Solent before the display. Ryde is in the background. You can also see the Hovercraft leaving from beside the pier.
The boys in action on their way in to invade Southsea
Nearly there!
Tanks on their way in.
I took lots of the Red Arrows. I'll post some of those tomorrow.

Re: Normandy 70
Thank you Felix.
As promised, some pictures of the Red Arrows...
I believe these are the better shots that I managed to get. Hopefully the weather will be as good at the end of August in Bournemouth so that I can have a go at getting some more.
Of course RIAT is on next month (11th-13th July). I look forward to seeing some pictures from those who are able to attend.

I like those pics. When you get the time, a little photoshopping on exposure will enhance them enormously. You have a good lens/camera combination.

Re: Normandy 70
Sorry, but I just cropped the pics for posting here. I was more interested in posting so shots which had some good possibilities composition wise. I play around with them a little before I print them off. The image below is of the two flying in a mirror formation. I zoomed in a little to much as actually there were 4 aircraft in the formation! Two were upright, two were upside down.
Anyway, I've played around a little with the colours for you...
I've zoomed in to 200% on that picture and it still looks good. I've printed it off on some A4 paper at 250% and that printed off nicely.
The new F-35 is due to be there this year and should be a good crowd puller. It's the first time it will have displayed at RIAT.
Whilst I am sure that it will be capable of doing far more than the Typhoon, I'm not sure if the Pilot will be allowed to copy that action. I think that too many of the developers will be filling their pants if he did.

I was working on the principal that the spectators wouldn't be worried about telling their boss how they'd just seen several $million dollars go up in smoke.

Re: Normandy 70
If a Typhoon bounced off the ground and headed towards me at 350+ knots, I don't think I'd be interested in what the developers might say to anybody!
