Whoohoo! The Webcam at Chichester is back on-line. The guys at Carnyx were able to get a license to place a new camera there yesterday.

It's has slightly more of the nest area on view, but looks really good.

It is hoped that the eggs will hatch soon so if you are interested you should see the fun start soon.

For more information on the changing of the camera, please see the blog: Chichester Peregrines - Blog

As for the webcam: Chichester Peregrines - Live link

      Re: Peregrine Falcons 2014

I'm sure it won't be long now, but the eggs still haven't hatched at Chichester. Currently the eggs haven't hatched for the Kestrals in Yorkshire and Ospreys (two nest in Scotland) either.

Whilst at Nottingham and Norwich things are quite different as the baby Peregrines continue to grow. Both sets of Mums and Dads are quite busy hunting for various small birds (and some larger ones too!) in order to feed their Eyases.

The chicks in the New Forest continue to grow too in the Goshawks nest.

Actually I don't whether you are just mentioning the webcam Scubbie, but their are now over 100 Ospreys nesting in Scotland at the present.

      Whoops! Thanks Ian.

I'm just referring to the 2 in these Webams:

      Loch of the Lowes webcam

Carnyx TV > Carnyx Wild > Wildlife Cameras > Scotland

At the same time there are lots more Peregrines, Goshawks and Kestrels.

Still waiting patiently for the eggs at Chichester to hatch.

Here is a snapshot of Mum returning to incubate them:

In the mean time the four at Nottingham Trent University continue to grow:

      Re: Peregrine Falcons 2014

This morning on BBC Breakfast they covered a pair of Ospreys in Wales. No doubt the story will be on other bulletins throughout the day:

BBC News - 'Operation Osprey' under way in Wales
Ospreys are among the rarest birds in Britain. One pair has been migrating from Africa to the same nest in Wales every Spring.

They returned once more this March to lay their eggs.

To help protect them, a team of volunteers are keeping a 24 hour watch on the nest.

      Tim Muffett reports.
(Please click the link to see the video)

I can't find their camera on-line, but they do have a page on the RSPB site: Glaslyn osprey diary - Places to visit - The RSPB Community

They do have a Facebook page but it looks like this will be closing soon: https://en-gb.facebook.com/pages/RSP...t/335219617978

      It moving to here: https://www.facebook.com/BywydGwylltGlaslynWildlife

There is another site with an Opsrey nest in Wales with a Webcam: Dyfi Osprey Project*•*Live Stream

The first Osprey chick of the 3 Osprey eggs has hatched at Loch Garten, Abernethy within the last 24 hours according to the Loch Garten Osprey Blog in the RSPB Community Forums. This is excellent news.

      Re: Peregrine Falcons 2014

      Nice one Ian.

There was a report of an Osprey chick being born in Wales last week too.

Just checking the Chichester Peregrines and it looks like the first egg there has hatched for 2014 too.

I've some pictures from Friday to go through and will post something when I can. I've a new lens and it was difficult to focus so I'm not really happy with them.

      Re: Peregrine Falcons 2014

I was out for the whole day on Saturday with my RSPB Local Group from Newcastle Upon Tyne with a coach trip to Country Park, Talken Tarn and Gelt Wood near Brampton in Cumbria and the highlight of the day was when a member of the Local Group spotted a Tawny Owl roosting in one of the trees at Gelt Wood and we all had excellent views of that bird. Gelts Wood is actually part of a larger RSPB reserve in Cumbria called Geltsdale which has as well a big area of moorland.
