Try better battery stats, and look for what's keeping your device awake.
It's on the market or free from xda developers.
Once you have it look for kernel and partial wake locks.

At least iPhone users don't risk wiping their handsets by doing simple stuff like scanning QR codes or entering numbers into the dialer:

pmsl - thanks for that James.

      I like this bit though...

...but the overall risk should be quite small as the attacker gains nothing from destroying all the data on a phone.
Isn't this the standard mentality of most viruses anyway?

Of course you could argue about the potential number of Samsung owners visiting a specific site, but then there are plenty of support forums just for the SII, for example.

I think this suggests that this is another Apple fanboy having a dig at anything non-Apple-

Such calls aren't made until the fandroid presses a "dial" button
Maybe to divert attention away from the complete mess they have made of Apple Maps.

      Re: New iPhone 5

I love my iPhone and iPad. They work brilliantly and integrate into my system well. Do I want the flexibility that android offers.... no not really and neither do most (I mean in relation to the lock down on Apple vs jailbroken etc). For what I do day to day an unJailbroken iPhone fits my needs.

For me it's the right size, weight and has the right features. If I wanted a bigger screen then of course the iPhone wouldn't be for me. Having played a lot with Android phones, I just don't find them as easy to use and straight forward tasks seem a pain compared to an iPhone.

However, I am far from an Apple fanboy. I can't stand my Mac mini vs windows and the new apple maps is absolutely atrocious compared to the old google system.

The cost of the iPhone (in terms of the 64Gb vs the 16Gb) is nothing short of a disgrace, but demand drives the price. Simple as that. I think since Steve Jobs passed away that Apple may go through a tough patch.

If another supplier could build something that looked as good as the iPhone and made the OS as simple then Apple would be in trouble.

Of course purely my opinion for what I want from a smart phone.

Then Apple would immediately sue them as they are the only company who are allowed to invent and innovate.
