Clarkson puts his foot in it!

The egotistic big mouthed presenter has really put his oversized foot in it. Will he survive and still be paid 1M of our licence fees? or will he go back to where he belongs, writing for News Corp papers?

It's all tongue in cheek. I think it's called satire.

Satire or not, his comments offended many people.

I've just had a look at the BBC iPlayer and the offending episode isn't available. I guess Auntie has had to remove it.

if he got the sack that would be it for top gear it would end because they would have to get someone else to take over.

That's the thing with comedy. Comedy is to make fun of a situation and as such there's a risk that some will be offended. Even the most innocent of joke will offend some.

We all know what clarkson is like and if you watched the actual comments it was an absurd satirical view of both supporting the strikes and being against the strikes.

If we are in a world where it is no longer appropriate to say something that my offend then the world will be left without humour.

Did anyone who was offended take the comments seriously. Does anyone seriously think tat he meant literally what he said? Of course not.

Why has his comments become such a big talking issue? Are they more serious than the problems we face, no!

It was a poor taste joke, nothing more nothing less but is it really headline news? Should the unions really be calling for him to be sacked? Was it okay or offensive for unions to liken him to gadaffi? Was it right that some of those offended are calling for him to be shot?

Pot calling kettle black methinks from a lot of people (not anyone in this thread).

Re: Clarkson puts his foot in it!

Perhaps because the show he made the comments on was live and during what is deemed 'Family Viewing time' he was most likely to offend many people out there, not just those who had been striking, but the many millions who were directly affected by the strikes.

Also perhaps so-called jokes about 'killing yourself under a train' isn't ideal for family viewing?
