Indeed but the 170 entrance fees and a conservative estimate of 54 for the fuel bill puts me right off ill be honest.

All paying airshows have a nasty habit of charging adult prices for over 15 year olds, both my kids are over 15 and one is in full time education and one left this time so neither have an income so i have to pay for them and as much as i love them i simply cannot afford it.

My best shots of the year were at Windermere and that was free.

Seriously, they sound grown up, I'm sure they would understand.

I am sure they would but as they both love airshows it seems unfair not to take them. FWIW my eldest went out of her way to provide all the picnic and drinks for sunderland off her own back so they do appreciate it

      Re: Sunderland Airshow

I was lucky and got free tickets for a number of years via someone who worked for BAe.
We used to go down Friday night ( only had tickets for the Sunday ) and camp on one of the many adjacent campsites. We used to then wander to various spots around the airfield on the Saturday and go in on the Sunday. Tbh I would consider doing this as there are many spots around the airfield that give good photo opportunities and you can see 99.9% of the flying display without being on the airfield itself.
Only problem is the Police are very hot on cars parking on any of the roads around the airfield so its a lot of leg work, if I did it again I'd take my bike.

      Re: Sunderland Airshow

It might be worth approaching someone to see if you can sell your photos.

This might take a little while to take off (sorry, no pun intended) but the extra cash might come in handy towards paying for future trips.

An important factor would be to keep a track of your stock photos and any communications that you have. Many firms will turn down photos initially, keep them, only to use them at a later date, without paying.
