State of the UK
Having just been out to our local Toby carvery, I just cannot believe that in the 21st Century, that the councils / government cannot grit our roads.
I mean it's not as if we have had no warning is it? The most sophisticated weather satellites / predictions, and yet we cannot plan for something like this.
Kids have been off all week, bins have not been emptied for over 3 weeks, and you cannot even get out of your drive, cul de sac or drive down any side roads, without extreme caution and constant skidding everywhere. The guy on the radio was stating the case that we shouldn't rely on cars, and should walk instead, as well as not to have a go at those gritting the roads, as they are working around the clock. Have you actually tried walking mr Radio presenter? The council cannot be bothered to grit the pavements either.
The simple fact is, the country is in such a mess, it's like a comedy movie. When I went to school, we never had days off for bad weather, nor did we have days off for teacher training, we just went to school, broke our arms, cut our heads open, we even climbed trees, yet we are still here today.Last edited by NewsreadeR; 08-01-10 at 10:42 PM.

Re: State of the UK
All it needs now is somewhere like Russia to invade us (or another country that is used to ice / cold weather) and we would just fall over.
I bet the council refuse to take all the bin bags next to our wheelie bins as well, when they eventually get off their backsides and come to collect them, as the bin is so full and the lid is not shut flat. I am so annoyed, does it show?
Maybe if they gritted the roads, we wouldn't have to pay people's wages to sit at home, instead of collecting the rubbish. (I am not having a go at any worker, just the state of the country and the decision makers)~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

I thought to myself, whilst chuckling to that video, it just needs Benny Hill music in the background. Turned the volume up and there it was. Priceless.

I bet that when you threw Teddy out of the pram it skidded all over the pavement on the ice!
Ernest Shackleton will be spinning in his grave! When I we'rt lad we'd getup, dress in shirt, shorts and hobnailed boots, clear the snow from t'North, go home and have Hovis toast & dripping before working in't mill fer 20 hours.

LOL can you really tell how annoyed I was before?
A 3 mile trip took about 75 minutes. At least in those days, we could get thy bike up cobbled hill in minutes. And the bread was still warm.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~
