Another Stealth TAX!!!! In the making.

Why should we pay 50p Tax on are Telephone Lines, approx 93% of UK households do, that's alot of 50p's, when we pay enough already. I.M.A.O our Fearless Leader says ďso everyone can have broadband, that includes the not so well off, the poor (scroungerís, chavís, etc)Ē Do we not pay enough Tax that includes VAT already? If he gets rid of the 35O,OOO public sector workers, l know a few and they do very little for their pay plus the perks join the basket ball team you get days off to compete, etc thatís just one of them. Scrap ID cards, get rid of the scrounging MPíS perks, etc, no donít the rest of the Government have their noseís in the money trough as well. Close the loop holeís for the rich so they do pay their fair share of Tax's, plus handing millionís to other countries and stop immigration that would certainly go to wardís paying for our broadband infrastructure throughout the country!

Found this quote recently and thought it applied well to Gordo.

You have sat here too long for any good you have been doing lately ... Depart, I say; and let us be done with you. In the name of God, go!

      Oliver Cromwell.

..........and why a fixed line tax, broadband is also delivered over mobile and satellite networks.

I think its a good idea.

I would pay an extra 50p for bb faster that 20mb.

But it should be applied to broadband, not phones as its not fair on the old dears who dont have internet

I think the idea is that the charge will go towards the costs of supplying 2mb bb to places that havnt currently got bb.

Its still a bad idea, whatever it is for.

Will BT and VM be paying this back once they start making money from it?

If everyone has internet then BB can see what we are all doing and looking at and our shopping habits.

      Bilderberg group anyone?

Agreed, I wasnt condoning it, just pointing out that the proposal isnt to fund upgrades from 16 meg services to 20 meg.
I dont believe that any private company should be given taxpayers money to ultimately further their profits. Unfortunately I can think of many examples in the past where this has happened.
I dont know what the answer is, as it could be forced through as part of a budget or if it isnt it could be funded from elsewhere which we would ultimately pay for anyway

My thoughts exactly. And even with the money, they will still continue to pay the most attention to the most profitable areas.

Why should I pay to subsidise Virgin cable rollout, when I have absolutely no intention of ever subscribing to their dire service ?

Re: Another Stealth TAX!!!! In the making.

Its all well and good the government sayin "oo its so everyone can get 2mb and it will improve the next generation of broadband.."

problem is that the capacity on the networks is so crap that we will all be traffic managed to hell anyway...

Will you still be saying that when the company you work for goes under because New Labour's latest stealth tax was the straw that broke the camel's back ?
