Hi there, I am just your average 18 year old boy that loves his gadgets, but since reading this every time I leave a room all unused appliances are switched off at the walls, the lights are off too. When I am not playing on my xbox a switch the tv, xbox etc off at the wall, and those 32" HD tvs do use alot of electricity. Because my mum uses a key meter for the electricity she has noticed that we are spending 4-5 less a week on electricity that is 260 (when calculating the 52 weeks in a year based on 5 per week), she was delighted to find out that this post inspired me to switch off everything. I thankyou

Dont forget to tell all your mates, you could even say your mum reduced your board as an incentive for them to try it
It annoys me when people say this and that "only" use x watts in standby. There are almost 30 million homes in this country alone, so 30 million times say 5 watts is a lot of watts in anyones book.
