      Gordon Brown put straight

I am not one who does politics normally, but this has got to be the best put down ever, of our beloved Prime Minister.

Honestly, I cannot wait for the next General Election, and I am going to make sure that I have plenty of beer in, ready to watch Labour get ridiculed by the British people as they count the votes, and announce the results.

      How very true!

I like the Vince Cable description of Gordon, "From Stalin to Mr Bean in a week!".

You know what, if Boris Johnston was to stand for PM I would back him in a shot, the "Blonde Buffoon" seems to be a fantastic London mayor.

Did you see the interview with him on Topgear ? It was one of the most entertaining I've seen.

      Re: Gordon Brown put straight

I must be difficult for Gordon, defending policies which made Tony Blair look like the best thing since sliced bread, but now make himself look like a chump.

Does anybody really think the Tories or the Lib-Dems would have been any better? It is very easy criticising after the fact and making promises you know you will not have to keep. It is all very well saying money should have been put away for a rainy day, but what would have been the result of that? Higher taxes? Less police and hospitals? Less schools and teachers? The opposition would have loved that.

Maybe Brown should have used his crystal ball and paid off the mortgage of that guy in Kansas who started it all.

      Re: Gordon Brown put straight

There are three things (amongst others) that I'll remember Gordon Brown for :

      • Raid on pension funds 10 years ago - 5bn per year. Ruined the private pensions in one go!
      • Sold the 3G telephone licences for 50 odd bn and spent it all.
      • Sold half the country's gold at a fire sale price, and spent it all! Cost the country over 3bn!
That's well over a 100bn he's had and nothing to show for it!

Elected ones are - I agree.

If that's a reference to raising the level that Inheritance Tax kicks in, then you should be aware that 000's of people have acquired assets greater than 250,000 just through owning their own home. A home paid for with money that has already had income tax paid on it! Why should anyone, then have to pay tax again just for HMG to chuck it all away on some Public Spending binge?
