No need for a Poll. Do what this woman did.

Tracey Fox, 42, of Thornley, County Durham, bought her washing machine 10 months ago. She had called out an engineer to repair it on five occasions.

On January 13, her patience finally ran out. After surviving without her washing machine for three weeks, she took the law into her own hands. She barricaded herself against the door and refused to let the Currys engineer out of her home.

AIG who are in massive financial trouble I thought provide the warranty.

If that is the correct document, then it is covered. I think you need to follow the complaints proceedure on page 6. I wouldn't put a CD drive down as a consumable, and nor would any right thinking person. Good luck, let us know how you get on.

You might also want to take advice from your local government
trading standards officer. Just put in your postcode here:

Trading Standards Central - For Consumers

They will advise by email or phone.
I found just mentioning their support of your case (in writing) gets a quick solution.

Re: Comet have decided to welch on my Xbox 360 repair.

They are always so keen to sell the insurance, I bought a digi camcorder just before xmas and the sale girl was trying her hardest to get me to buy it,she dropped the price twice, she then asked what I would do if it broke, I just told her I would throw it down the stairs and brake it big time and then claim on the house insurance, that shut her up.

Re: Comet have decided to welch on my Xbox 360 repair.

      UPDATE:

just had a phone call from "the directors office" at the Comet head office, they are very sorry for all the trouble that I have gone through.

They have "upgraded" my policy to cover the Xbox 360 now, so I just need to take it back to Comet to get it repaired.

I have their name and number now, just in I have any more problems as well.

So a result in the end (although I still need to get it repaired.)
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

After all the hassle they caused you, perhaps a Brand new replacement should be the order of the day.

      Good luck
