Jerry Doyle Dies; Babylon 5 Actor, Talk Show Host Was 60

Jerry Doyle Dies; Babylon 5 Actor, Talk Show Host Was 60 - The Hollywood Gossip
Jerry Doyle, the actor best known for his work on the beloved television series Babylon 5, has passed away at the age of 60.

TMZ reported Doyle's passing moments ago.

The cause of death is unknown at this time.

Sources say Doyle was found unresponsive in his Las Vegas home and died before paramedics arrived.

In addition to his acting career, which was highlighted by his portrayal of fan favorite Michael Garibaldi in Babylon 5 and its various spinoff projects, Doyle was an active figure in the right-wing political scene.

His 2010 book, Have You Seen My Country Lately? America's Wake-Up Call, was praised by many of his contemporaries.

At the time of his death, Doyle was the host of the Jerry Doyle Show, a syndicated political radio program that aired in roughly 300 markets.

Though a lifelong Republican, Doyle was more libertarian than traditional conservative, and he endorsed Rand Paul during the 2016 GOP primaries.

As recently as last night, Doyle was tweeting amusing observations about some of his fond memories to his thousands of followers.

His page has since become a place for fans to share their grief:

"RIP Jerry Doyle, who helped make Babylon 5 an incredible show thatís impacted so many. Youíll be remembered, and missed," wrote one user.

"Terribly sad news. Jerry was one of the all-time great conservative voices," tweeted another.

"He will be missed by all of us."

Doyle's family has taken to Twitter to assure fans that further information regarding cause of death and memorial services will be provided when it becomes available.

Babylon 5 was better than star trek or any other sci-fi show before or since, IMHO.

B5 is a great series. STS9 stole a lot of the ideas from B5.

Whether one is better than the other? It depends on the audience. Whilst they are both in the same genre, B5 is a very complex web of plots and it can take a few repeats to catch up on them all.

There are some fantastic guest actors in it, as well as the great regular cast.

It's the one boxset I went out of my way to get when it was released.

      J. Michael Straczynski aka JMS pushed the boundaries a huge amount when he developed the series. He wanted to make it all in 16:9 before 16:9 was the recognised standard. He also wanted to work to a better resolution than he was allowed. Many of the graphics were pushed beyond what could be handled at the time and this shows if you try to watch it on a HD TV.

The story lines were always good. However often there were plots within plots within plots within plots. The mysterious disappearance of B4 wasn't fully realised until season 3. The mysterious Kosh never truly revealed themselves, but a lot was learned of them. As for the old ones, well they wasn't as old as the old one.

The battle scenes were good though...

So for anyone who doesn't know about the Psicorp, Grey Council, Mr Morden, G'Kar, Narn or Drazi, you really should ry and catch this series next time its on.

Do remember Babylon5 in the 1990s.
Not sure its ever resurfaced on a uk channel since it was on c4 all those years ago.
It never got the ratings though it deserved, except amongst many dedicated sci-fi fans.

Be great to see the original series resurface again on a channel somewhere.

It has been on since. The last time I'm aware that it was aired was on Watch. It finished on April 2014.

P.S. I only know this as I still have the last episode on my planner
