Forget Sky, this box lets you watch films legally BEFORE they arrive in UK cinemas

Forget Sky, Prima Cinema lets you watch films BEFORE they arrive in UK cinemas | Tech | Life & Style | Daily Express
MOVIE FANS can enjoy the latest Hollywood blockbusters BEFORE they arrive in UK cinemas thanks to the Prima Cinema.

Prima Cinema lets customers get their hands on the latest home releases – legally – before they hit the multiplexes.

The clever device is installed in your home and secured with your fingerprint. The biometric security means the rental can only be watched when the subscriber agrees.

Once set up, new movies then download automatically and sit securely on the Prima Cinema box until the movie studio authorises the rentals – which is usually on the same weekend as they hit US cinemas.

That means you can enjoy the latest Hollywood blockbusters weeks before they arrive in the UK.

Unfortunately getting a film direct from the movie studio the same weekend it premieres in the US isn't cheap.

In fact, most movies from Prima Cinema will set film fans back around $500 (some £300) and there's also a hefty cost for the box itself.

Dubbed Netflix for Billionaires, the Prima Cinema kit lands in homes for a cool $35,000 (£21,000).

Watching films before release was usually only available to one of the most exclusive clubs in Hollywood is known as the Bel Air Circuit.

This is an elite group of around 200 hollywood stars and executives who get to screen new film releases from the comfort of their mansions and home cinema rooms.

“That circuit is still a private affair, run by the studios,” explains Prima CEO Shawn Yeager.

“We’re the only company in the world that offers exactly the same experience to anyone who can afford it.”

At £21,000 you probably won't be cancelling you Sky subscription quite yet, but it's a service to consider if your lucky numbers come up this weekend.

I wonder if Sky will offer this a package upgrade at some point, would make the 'Your Sky bill for ***' interesting reading.

They'd have to increase the credit limit on your viewing card first!

I can just see it, bill arrives... 'OK, who watched the new Star Wars two weeks ago!!!'

It would make the mobile phone bills where the children have been using in-app purchases pale into insignificance.
