Dr Who started to go downhill with Matt Smith, although to be fair he had an impossible act to follow. Tennant was able to portray the the doctor like no-one else, he did have the help of some superb scripts though. I occasionally watch Doomsday again, Davies at his absolute best.

      The scripts are appalling.

It seems to have become a head up ****, ego tripping contest between the writers.
I didn't enjoy the last series for the same reasons. Watched 3 episodes of the latest series and gave up on it, load of twaddle.

The Doctor's character does rely on the actors ability. With hindsight I think the worst portrayal was by William Hartnell but at the time it appeared to be a children’s TV programme and there was no one to compare him with.

Russell T Davies did provide some of the best story lines though at times he appeared to be pursuing his own agenda. This was particularly noticeable in the Torchwood spin-off series.

Hughie Green was better in Double your Money. That was when a thousand pounds was really worth something.

      Only "at the time"?

I used to have a jovial dig at adult friends who read harry potter & go to the pixar hollywood films.
      And watch Dr.who.

What is it that i'm missing?

Just because The Minions was rated 'U' doesn't mean that I couldn't go and watch it.

It was a good film and quite a few laughs too.
