I've just taken a look at the Wikipedia site and it suggests that YouTube was launched in February 2005.
I suspect that you my have been looking at a similar site that has long since closed or moved on to other things.

What was similar and well known before Youtube? Or was there a Google video service before? I don't know if my mind is playing tricks or the memories are locked away and fooling me into something else.
As I'm pretty sure the site was white back then as well.

Of course YouTube has come a long way from the early days when a simple low-res video was great fun:
Now it is possible to stream live content and also for anyone who has a 4K monitor or TV, with a suitable broadband package, you can also watch Ultra HD content too:
