Angry TiVo Confirmed as returning to UK!!

Nope, its not a joke! they really are making a comeback!! Sadly tho, its only for customers of Virgin Media! I would say tho 'look out Sky' Virgin is about to become a serious competitor. The TiVo software and features, kick the Sky and Sky+HD epgs into the middle of next century!

i'm not sure but I dont think so. It will be the software in their new boxes and it will be out next year! Shame, as Virgin dont have Sky1 HD, and i dont live in a cable area otherwise i would move like a shot!

there arent any 'silly little features'. I have a disused TiVo series 1 from when they first were here sitting infront of me. Even tho its around 7 years old, its still miles better than skys software. ask any1 who has or had a TiVo

we what i meant was like if sky said boasted about their epg but had only 6 channels,

i retract my statement maning tivo is a silly feature. what i meant was they will be outlining the ability to output via scart to discuise their lack of tv. sort of

Re: TiVo Confirmed as returning to UK!!

One of the reasons TiVo failed was due to it's poor marketing and complexity to use (at the time). Sky+ was very simple and basic and when launched people didn't really understand PVRs and so anything complex was doomed to fail.

Sky understood it's market and was successful with the Sky+ and TiVo pulled out of the UK market.

That was then (getting on for 10 years ago) and the world is a very different place. TiVo coming back (and to virgin) can only be a good thing as Sky will now have to accelerate its program to develop their PVR software.

Re: TiVo Confirmed as returning to UK!!

i would be very intrigued to know the goings on in Sky's senior areas when then realised the TiVo was coming back to face them head on! If i could get Virgin in my area i would be there like a shot! VM has all the channels I watch except Sky1 HD which i could live with.

Re: TiVo Confirmed as returning to UK!!

To be honest Virgin could pay me as much as they like and I still won't go back to them, they are still NTL at the core of the business.

No matter what they do they will never see me as a customer again.
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!
