is there anything i can do........
hi all so far so good with my sky broadband, service has been excellent, however i was wondering if there is anything i can do to keep noise levels down and to maybe stretch my speed even further to what it is now, my setup is:
master socket - micro filter - extension runs to another socket (i know its bad but no choice) - microfilter - line out for broadband from one end of house to the other - to modem.
now what i would like to know is what is possible to boost my broadband, eliminating extensions and leaving the router downstairs is not an option.

You seem to be saying that you have a filter plugged into your master socket, an extension plugged into the phone outlet of the filter, then the router plugged into the extension?
If that's the case then I'm surprised you have a usable BB connection at all!
The router must not be indirectly plugged into the phone side of a filter. If it is then it will only receive a tiny proportion of the signal it needs and be badly interfered with by the phone signal.
You haven't really given enough information to be able to answer your other questions. If you want to improve your connection and have your router some distance from your master socket then the first thing you should consider is testing whether a replacement filtered faceplate on your master socket would improve your connection stats and then either run a long RJ11 to the master socket or create a dedicated unfiltered extension.
See the cabling and faceplate help forum for more details (which I've moved this thread to).

master socket was re-wired not too long ago as it was in a mess, cables were not replaced just put back in to place correctly.
it goes master socket to microfilter from the master socket an extension runs upstairs from there another filter with RJ11 going across the house to the other end and finally reaches modem.
latency is a bit high so i want to get it down a bit and maybe improve speed and noise levels, i was wondering if there was anything i can do apart from putting the router downstairs and running ethernet to the upstairs.
