The right cable?
Howdy folks,
I've just moved into a new place and have got Sly Fibre 38Mb installed with the SR102 (smiley face) modem and using the filter that came with it. I've bought with me the ADSL Nation XTE-2005 Master Faceplate I used at the last place and was wondering if I could use it or whether I need something different for fibre?
I also need a little longer lead between modem and socket. Could someone please let me know what I need in respect to the ends?..... I get confused between rjx and rjy
Thanks

Re: The right cable?
The filter that came with the router is probably better than the old filtered faceplate. If you want a filtered plate best get on designed for the fibre connections.
You need a cable with RJ11 connections. Make sure it is good quality made up from twisted pair cable for the best results.

Re: The right cable?
You need an RJ45 to RJ11 cable like these :-
1m RJ45 to RJ11 ADSL/VDSL Patch Lead
The RJ45 end goes into the faceplate above, the RJ11 end goes to your router.run-IT-direct, For all your networking, ADSL & telecom requirements.

Re: The right cable?
RJ11 plug will fit an RJ45 socket, but an RJ45 plug will not fit an RJ11 socket. So RJ45/RJ11 is fine if you are using a filtered faceplate which has a RK45/RJ11 socket, but if you are using a plug in filter, the RJ45 plug will not fit.

Re: The right cable?
Which is why I said the RJ45 end plugs into the filter above
There are no plug in filters with RJ45 sockets. We steer people away from plug in filters where possible.

Re: The right cable?
I understand that, but someone looking for a cable to extend from a plug in filter may not. That's why I posted.
