      BT Master socket

I need a new master socket fitted in my house( it doesn't have a master socket, the line comes in to the house upstairs and is connected to what looks like a 5 inch plastic strip with what looks like a birds nest attached to that). can i ask the man from bt to put the master socket downstairs in the living room or does it have to go upstairs on the other side of the house.

      Re: BT Master socket

Whilst technically you should get BTO to do this work, many competent people have changed the sockets and redone the wiring at their own expense. BTO will likely charge for this, unless there is a recognised fault or it is done as a part of a Fibre installation.

As for not having a Master Socket, actually you will have one.

If you remove the faceplate there should be a capacitor behind it. This is normally yellow or blue and about the size of a AAA battery.
