Connecting Sky+ to a HDMI cable help
Hi, this is my first post on here... hope someone can help me.I've just moved house and upgraded to Sky HD in the process. It took about 2 months to transfer because I moved to a listed building. I kept my Sky+ (not HD) box at my old address to record programmes/films I wanted to see.In my new property I wall mounted the TV and got in the pros to take all my cabling into the understairs cupboard. They lay 3x hdmi cables for me and a magic eye/remote receiver for me to connect to the RF 2 out etc. That's fine, my Sky HD box is connected and everything works. My question is how to connect up the old Sky+ box to watch all the recorded items, as I only have HDMI cables and the Sky+ box obviously is not HD so has no HDMI sockets. I'm not bothered about upscaling, and don't want to pay out for it. I just want a cable if that's possible? They don't seem to do HDMI to Scart cables which I assumed I'd be able to do.I've looked and wondered if a HDMI to VGA male cable would work, connected to the existing HDMI cable with a HDMI female/female connector?Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Connecting Sky+ to a HDMI cable help
Not going to give the best quality I know but couldn't you use the RF2 out and view the recordings on your remote TV?
Scart and VGA are both analogue whereas HDMI and DVI are digital so a straight adapter lead is not possible. It would require one containing an analogue to digital converter.

Re: Connecting Sky+ to a HDMI cable help
Thanks, what cable would I need if I was to use the RF2 out and what would I connect it to on the TV. Sorry, haven't got a clue with this.

Re: Connecting Sky+ to a HDMI cable help
Just an ordinary TV aerial extension lead. They are available in various lengths from electrical, hardware or DiY stores. If both ends are identical (male) then you will also require a female to female adaptor. You will have to tune your TV to the signal coming from the Sky box.

Re: Connecting Sky+ to a HDMI cable help
Officially you will have to continue to subscribe for the Sky+ box and use the same card as used for the recordings. Some find that the record/playback continues to work long after the subscription is ceased, but others find it stops almost immediately. You will also have to connect the box to the satallite dish before you can play back any recordings.
