new BT vDSL faceplate results..
Well I got a new Face plate and I am pleased with the results my speed went from 12mb download to 14meg but to be honest it went to that speed as soon as I took the cover off and plugged the router in the test socket behind! So not sure what benifit there is, would I have been better just doing that or is that not good?

Re: new BT vDSL faceplate results..
That is the point of the filtered faceplate. It should give a very similar speed to the Test socket. There is nothing to stop you using the Test socket on its own, but any extensions you have will cease to work with the faceplate removed.

I'm having a new master socket fitted next week, there will be no extension wiring on the faceplate will I benefit from one of these or will it be a waste of money?

The only advantage would be that the faceplate filters, provided you don't buy a cheapo one from eBay, have a better quality filter than the plug in one supplied by Sky. Other than that, the benefits are only cosmetic.
