If you have more than one extension then a filtered faceplate will be off benefit. The new Openreach socket has the bell wire filter(and an RF filter) but does not isolate the ADSL signal from extensions that do not need it-these still may pick up noise from external sources. If you fit a filtered faceplate to the master, connect any extensions that are only for phones to the filtered connections(2, 3 & 5) and connect the extension that goes to your router to the unfiltered connections(A & B), that will be the best setup. BT do a dedicated extension kit for this which basically has CAT5 spec. cable in it(minus 1 pair!).

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate
It may be an advantage. The newer filtered faceplates have A and B terminals which are unfiltered, connecting your Cat5 to these would mean that all the other extensions and the master would be filtered and isolated. If you wanted to put a phone on the Cat5 extension it would need a separate filter. If you wanted it purely for broadband an RJ45/11 line jack like this would be required -

....or you could fit an RJ11 plug on the end of it and plug it straight into your router.

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate
Hi,
I have a filtered faceplate which I bought from Clarity a while ago.
Now the problem is when I replace the BT faceplate with this one and connect everything on the reverse like the instructions say none of my telephone extensions work. Is this faceplate not compatible any more or have I wired it incorrectly?

I would hazard a guess and say you have wired it incorrectly.
Try taking a piccie of it and posting it and see if anyone can give you some guidance?~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Take off your extension face plate and check what colour of wire is wired to what number. Copy this pattern at the face plate.

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate
i've got a xte 2005 face plate, i'm going to be fitting it very soon, but i had a look into this box, it's where the BT line comes into my house, i see theres only 2 wires joined up from the cable coming in, to the one gong to the master socket.
the connections are at the bottom of the photo
will it still work ok with the new face plate?

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate
The faceplate should be fitted on the Master socket. Your picture shows a simply junction, you will not be able to fit a filtered faceplate to it. What you can do is fit an NTE5 linebox here and it would then become your master socket.

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate
Presuming you'll be running the router off the master socket it's simple, connect the wires connected to 2 into the phone side "2" and the wires connected to 5 into the phone side "5", you can also connect the ones into 3 onto the phone side "3" also but modern phones do not usually need it. As for the fourth wire it isnt needed and was probably connected for neatness.
