    Hard wire router to new faceplate

      Polarity doesn't matter, you only need a filter if a telephone is going to be connected too. The A & B connections on the NTE2005 faceplate you refer to are directly connected to the BT plug on the faceplate. You are very unlikely to see any connection speed difference between hard wiring to A & B & using the front RJ45 socket.
