      NTE 2005 question

      Hi all

A little help please ..... Ive just fitted a new NTE-2005 ADSL v1.0 faceplate but my speeds have dropped massively?

      Before fitting
      DOWNSTREAM 19074 KBPS
      UPSTREAM 1078 KBPS
      LINE ATTENUATION DOWNSTREAM 14DB
      LINE ATTENUATION UPSTREAM 2DB
NOISE MARGIN DOWN AND UP 7DB

      After installation
      DOWNSTREAM 320 KBPS
      UPSTREAM 128 KBPS
      LINE ATTENUATION DOWNSTREAM 63DB
      LINE ATTENUATION UPSTREAM 31DB
      NOISE MARGIN DOWNSTREAM 11DB
      NOISE MARGIN UPSTREAM 7DB

As you can see its a massive difference. Is this because my profile needs some time to adjust to the new connection or maybe one of the IDC connectors hasn't cut the wire correctly???

I live 30 seconds WALK away from my exchange so not sure why the line attenuation has suddenly jumped up, especially by that much!!

      Thanks

      Re: NTE 2005 question

Its either faulty or you wired extensions to it wrong

The nte-2005 has both filtered and unfilterd points for extensions

      Re: NTE 2005 question

You have definitely done something wrong there mate.

      LINE ATTENUATION DOWNSTREAM 14DB before
      LINE ATTENUATION DOWNSTREAM 63DB after

I would double check the connections or at least post an image etc so others can advise?

      Re: NTE 2005 question

There should be 2 connections into the back bit, make sure you haven't put them in the front bit.

This is the front bit. (not the exact one but for comparison)

      Re: NTE 2005 question

what are you trying to wire to it
you said there are no extensions

You are supposed to plug the modem straight into the rj11 socket in the front of the nte-2005 with no filter

A & B are if you want to run an extension lead for the modem as its unfiltered

      2,3,5 are for telephone's, sky box's etc

You really want to plug straight into the rj11 and not be running extensions
