Re: ADSL XTE-2005 filter
If you have a split faceplate, then yes it will fit as you should have the NTE5 socket.
If you have any hardwired extensions, you may wish to consider the vDSL socket if you are not happy with rewiring them to the back of the XTE-2005 socket.
BT/Openreach VDSL/ADSL Premium Faceplate
Otherwise you will need to get both the faceplate and an IDC tool:
Faceplate: XTE-2005 Clone NTE5 ADSL Faceplate
Basic IDC Tool: IDC Tool , Simple tool to allow termination to IDC blocks
Longer lasting IDC Tool: Professional IDC Tool

Re: ADSL XTE-2005 filter
Do you have extension sockets in your house?
Are there wires connected to the removable faceplate in the Openreach socket?
If the first answer is no, then a filtered faceplate will make little or no difference.
If it is yes, you should have wires connected to the faceplate. If you don't, your wiring needs fixing before a faceplate will do any good.

Re: ADSL XTE-2005 filter
If you have wires connected when you remove the lower front plate then it's either mis wired or you do have an extension somewhere. If you only have two wires on the back plate then you have no extensions. A faceplate is unlikely to improve speeds but is a neater way to filter the socket.

Re: ADSL XTE-2005 filter
all ive got from the lower part on the front plate is the black cable from outside of my house leading into the socket so the wires must be on the top part of the socket

Re: ADSL XTE-2005 filter
When you remove the faceplate and plug into the Test socket, do you have dial tone?
If you get dial tone, it means you have another socket somewhere, or you have an alarm, or the Sky box connection is connected direct to the faceplate.
If you don't get a dial tone, the socket is incorrectly wired.
Seen your latest post. The wires from outside should be connected to the A-B terminals on the inner plate, not the faceplate.

Re: ADSL XTE-2005 filter
If you have no wires in 2, 3 & 5 on that lower plate then you ahve no extensions & the socket is wired correctly. As above, all a faceplate will do is make it neater.

Re: ADSL XTE-2005 filter
A picture of the socket with the faceplate removed would help?
