      New Customer - SkyHD+

      Hello,

We have just has SkyHD installed with Anytime+.

As we haven't received our router the engineer would not installed the RJ45 cable and standard telephone cable - he said we will need to install this ourself.

      Is this correct?

      Thanks,

      Scott

I am not sure about the ethernet, but he should have connected the telephone cable as having it connected is a part of your contract. According to the Sky help the installer is supposed to leave the ethernet cable ready to be connected to the router if it is not present during the installation. About 1:20 into this video -

      Re: New Customer - SkyHD+

      Thanks for the info.

      Yea he hasn't left anything.

The telephone engineer couldn't get the line working so they called an underground technician, he managed to fix the problem but he didn't run a cable to the telephone box.

The router hasn't been delivered yet so he said he couldn't run the RJ45 cable because there wasn't a router.

Should I call sky and ask them to come back and finish the installation?

      Cheers,

      Scott

Once I get home and see what they have done I'll be straight on the phone.

      Re: New Customer - SkyHD+

Whilst I appreciate that you may be more worried about messing things up, than not knowing what to do, the installation guide supplied with the Sagem F@ST 2304n is quite useful.

Each cable comes with a very clear indication of what plugs in and where.

The only thing that I would mention is that the supplied microfilters MUST be the first thing plugged into each and every telephone socket that you use, even before the telephone lead to the back of the Sky STB.

The splitter that some Sky engineers use for the telephone lead to the Sky STB comes with a warning that indicates that it should never be unplugged. This is not strictly 100% correct and is more misleading. It should be plugged into the socket marked 'Phone' on the microfilter.
