      Sky+ box extension lead question

Can anyone recommend which type of RJ11 to BT cable I need to connect a Sky box to a phone socket please ?

I am suddenly getting letters from Sky threatening to charge me full whack unless I connect both to the phone line.

I bought a new lead for the upstairs box but it just says "phone line not connected" when it is plugged in. I bought it off ebay but I think I should have bought an RJ11 to BT crossover cable upon doing some research.

My downstairs extension lead has just given up the ghost I reckon as it is now 4-5 years old.

      Thanks if anyone can help.

Re: Sky+ box extension lead question

Just to rule out the telephone line beside the Sky box, have you plugged a normal telephone into the same socket?

As for the lead, if you have any old leads from a PC Modem or a Fax machine laying around, it might be worth trying one of these.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

Re: Sky+ box extension lead question

I have plugged a telephone straight into both sockets and it works in both of them. I also daisy chained two RJ11 to BT cables together upstairs between the phone socket and sky box upstairs. The sky box then confirmed that a phone line was connected.

Therefore, it is clearly the 2 extension cables that need replacing.

Re: Sky+ box extension lead question

I am pretty sure that is what I ordered before when i bought the Commtel one but it did not work. Obviously not compatible with a sky box for some reason.

Anyway, I have gone with this one. As it has "Sky" in the title I am hopeful this one will work.

That's the same cable, from the same supplier, Kenable, The price is about the same too.

It should do the job, if it does not work, I would suspect the modem
