Sync Speed / Bell Wire removal issue

Did a bell wire removal on a friends Sky line... it didn't make a make any difference to the sync speed but i feel this line could get more.... however the upload attenuation went up after the removal. That's not normal right?

With on the left, without on the right.

      Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Plugged into the master socket, with Sky provided filter.
      Broadband Everyday Lite i believe.

It was probably being reported wrongly before. The upstream attenuation is usually around half the downstream, which yours now is.

The noise margin actually improved slightly, but did you try plugging into the Test socket. As there was a ring wire I am assuming there are extensions. These can cause more problems than the ring wire, using the test sockets isolates them and removes any problems they may be causing.

I'll try the extensions and from the test socket when i'm next round.

Does it look like this line could get a bit more speed?

As it currently stand the upstream could take more but not the downstream but that could all change in the test socket. Also with the upstreams it depends on if it's on an isam or dslam not 100% sure of the profile but I'm sure someone from on here in cat such as user5 could tell you

The attenuation could support 6-7+Mb but it depends on the condition of the line. The Test socket will reveal all.
