      Bellwire removed, sync dropped?

Ok, so I removed the bellwire, and the sync speed has dropped, it would seem almost immediately from 13333 to 11500 odd !? Is this normal?

I am trying to solve a low noise margin on my line.

New to sky and line is still in DLM mode....

      Re: Bellwire removed, sync dropped?

If you mean the ring wire then no, its not normal, you would expect the sync to have no change or rise. I wouldn't be making changes during DLM as that will only confuse it.

Re: Activated now then please post info here

OK so I think DLM has stopped as I have an uptime in excess of 30 hours now.

      Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 11262 kbps 1040 kbps
      Line Attenuation 20.5db 9.3db
      Noise Margin 7.0db 8.0db

My connection had been 13000 odd kbps for 1st couple of days and I had no issues, so do I wait until the 10 days is up before calling Sky?

I am not in the test socket, I know this can make a difference, am I going to cause any problems today if I tried the router in the test socket, it would mean unplugging from mains though, which goes against the 'leave it for 10 days rule'

      Thanks....

Did you unplug your microfilter when you opened your faceplate and removed the bell wire?

      Post your router stats.

      Re: Bellwire removed, sync dropped?

If you have a new type BTO faceplate, this includes a ring filter so removing the wire would make little difference.

Make sure you did not disturb the other wires, 2 and 5, when you removed the ring wire. Check that they are fully pushed down into the connectors. Don't use a screwdriver, if you don't have the proper tool, use a thin plastic credit card.

There is also a chance that the plug has not seated properly into the socket, push it in and out a few times to make sure it is fitting properly. What happened to your noise margin when you removed the wire, did it go up or down?

Have you tried the Test socket yet?

      Re: Bellwire removed, sync dropped?

@Isitme, the bell wire removal appeared to make no difference to the nosie margin by the way. I have double checked the removed bellwires are tucked away, the other wires that remain are seated properly, and I have triple-checked the connection of the faceplate into the test socket. Thanks..

      Re: Bellwire removed, sync dropped?

Can you remove the faceplate and plug the filter directly into the Test socket, then plug in the router using only the ADSL cable supplied by Sky and take your stats. The basic stats will do.

Hi is this recommended during the 1st ten days, although i believe the DLM to have ended?

Would need to unplug and resite the router to do this... advice please?
