If you have no landline noise or issues, then you need to call broadband.

      Re: Bellwire removed, sync dropped?

Well I felt there was a very slight crackle behind the dial tone, so I have called up Sky. Despite line 'passing' I persisted and this has been escalated.
The fact I get the same noise margins when router is in the test socket, to me suggests an issue on the line??

Anyway my initial line testing phase has finished, I have been set at 11mb which is great for now, let's hope I can get this noise issue sorted and get the sync up a little higher in good time.

Thanks for the help so far....

      Re: Bellwire removed, sync dropped?

So anyway... I had openreach out and they 'fixed' the line, I seem to be able to hold a stable noise margin now, around 7db, and the router is holding a very stable connection, which is nice.

I'm set at 11mb, so getting around 9.5mb on speedtest.net.

I called Sky to ask if I could get any more out of the line now that I had had noise removed from the line, but the tier 1 support was totally bewildered why I wanted a faster speed.

      Maybe I'll try again...!

Hmm... perhaps they thought that you would prefer to swim in that local mud pit called Gildenburgh Water?

      Re: Bellwire removed, sync dropped?

It's been a while, but I do miss it.

I done my IDC there back in Feb '99. It is always good fun jumping in water which is 5c whilst the ground is covered in snow.

      Am I mad or crazy?

What are your stats like, now that BT have 'fixed' the line?
