Wow!!! I didn't know Openreach had phones, my line is still down and it's now more than two weeks since fault was reported to Sky and via Sky to Openreach. I've now given up and have decided that Sky can pay for the calls I'm being charged on my mobile. Good luck.

      Re: Faceplate Info

Ring sky and refer to the date the fault was reported and ask them to check the status of the ticket. They have a reference number in the system and should be able to look it up for you.

Don't start from scratch. You must let them know that a fault was reported 2 weeks ago and you are inquiring about its progress.

I live in Kent too and a fault was reported on my line on Saturday and I had a visit from an Openreach engineer yesterday. I was told Openreach aims to respond within 3 days of the fault being reported.

Remember if you don't get a satisfactory reply hang up and ring back till you get through to someone sensible.

      Good Luck.

      Re: Faceplate Info

      Hey fellas,

My line testing completed yesterday and I've been capped on 11mb.

      Stats:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 11263 kbps 955 kbps
      Line Attenuation 19.5db 10.8db
      Noise Margin 17.9db 8.0db

I was a little confused as to why DLM would cap my downstream at 11mb when there's still plenty of noise margin left.

      Here are my error stats:
      Since Link time = 4 days 19 hours 55 min 33 sec
      FEC: 14002 3842052789
      CRC: 0 72
      ES: 0 32
      SES: 0 0
      UAS: 0 0
      LOS: 0 0
      LOF: 0 0

Are the CRC errors okay keeping in mind it's been up for nearly 5 days? I was also expecting to get the full 1.3mb for upload too. Can somebody confirm what the default snr for the upstream is?

      Thanks!!

Phone Sky to have the line manually re-configured.

Connection Speed 17211 kbps 1116 kbps
Line Attenuation 20.5 db 11.8 db
      Noise Margin 7.1db 8.6db

      Re: Faceplate Info

Have you received your new router yet? If not, I would leave it till you do. The stats could change again with the new router so it would be better getting it fixed then rather than have to go through the pain of calling up again. Are you using the filtered faceplate?

I was also expecting to get the full 1.3mb for upload too. Can somebody confirm what the default snr for the upstream is?
In all my time on the forum I can remember only 2 occasions when the upstream got the full 1.3Mb, both of these were low single figure attenuations, 4 or 5 dbs if I remember correctly. The chipset in the router you are using can also make a difference. Using a DG934G my upstream sync is above 1Mb, with my DG834GT, it is about 900kb, I have never seen it sync above 1Mb.

      Re: Faceplate Info

      Thanks for your replies.

Yes I recieved the new router. It's a dlink 2640s. QOS and router reponse is better than my 834gt but the wifi range is disappointing. I had it plugged in ever since it came and according to the website line testing finished in three days.

I spoke to sky not too long ago and according to them they've maxed me out:
      DSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15264 kbps 574 kbps
      Line Attenuation 19.5db 10.8db
      Noise Margin 11.3db 20.0db

I could not get through to CST myself however I was able to convince the tier1 person to speak to CST himself and have my line manually configured.

Now then, it seems they've put me on a target snr of 11 or capped me on 15megs and capped my upload as punishment for bothering them. I asked them to configure my line to the default snr (7) and the tier 1 person spoke to CST who said they can't do it because my line can't handle it.

I was wandering on what basis would CST conclude that my line can't handle snr @ 7db. The error stats don't look too bad.

      Re: Faceplate Info

Call them back and tell them you want it done again, they have completely crippled your upload and set your download too low. There is no reason why they can't just take the cap off your line completely.

That's more like it. Sky do have agents who know what they are doing.
