House had Virgin now extension sockets will not work
Hi,i have just found this forum and was wondering if somebody could help, please.Moved into this house and previous owner was using Virgin,he canceled and we transferred Sky into here.
Trouble is the extension sockets will now not work, the Broadband/Phone line comes from a old BT connection and at the side is a Yorkshire Cable, Master socket which when tried does nothing.
The extension cables run into the back of the Virgin socket(just found out),Do i need a new BT master socket for transfer of extension cables? If so what do i get, please or is there another way.
Never done anything like this in my life so please excuse my ignorance, there are blue/orange/white/green cables all over in Y.C. master socket some connected, some not.Was not at home when Sky fitter came so Sky box not connected to any phone socket which to be honest not bothered about.
Thank you in advance

Re: House had Virgin now extension sockets will not work
At a guess the extensions are wired to the old master, what you need is an NTE5socket, fit this to the incomming BT cable, you then wire the extensions that are currently wired to the other socket to the back of this(2, 3 & 5). Also consider a filtered faceplate as that will filter the extensions from the ADSL and thus could improve speeds.(& negate the need for plug in filters!)

BTW, you must have the box connected to a phone line for interactive services & if a new contarct it is part of the T&C's to have the phoneline connected.

Re: House had Virgin now extension sockets will not work
Hi thanks Run,will look into it, a bit nervous about doing it myself.
As for the box ,fitter never bothered and Sky when activating Broadband (thats a different story)was informed that the phone etc was connected to old BT line and box was not.
Never heard another thing about it, so i left it alone.
