Just checking . . .
Hi All
Just moved house and whilst waiting for Sky BB to sort themselves out thought I'd change faceplates on the Master socket.
The previous owner was a fan of long extension cables - he had one going upstairs that must have been 15m long (now removed)
So, set-up is (apologies for the photo quality - no idea where the normal camera is)
Master Socket
Short length to PCS box
PCS Box
The two extensions from the PCS go into the living room; one to the sky box and the other to the phone.
I've bought a XTE-2005 Master Faceplate, so I'm thinking it's OK to just fit it to the master socket - anything else I need to know?
Cheers

Re: Just checking . . .
Check that all your extension wires are fitted to the faceplate of your Master socket. You can check by removing the faceplate and checking that all the other phone sockets in the house are dead. If they are, fit the filter faceplate and connect the wires from the old face plate on to the same terminals on the new one.
If you find that some of the sockets still work with the faceplate removed, remove the inner plate on the master socket and check that only the incoming wires are connected to the A-B terminals. If there are none check around for a junction box on the line before the master socket.

Re: Just checking . . .
Finally got around to fitting the faceplate this evening - wires were tough to remove but managed it in the end!

Test socket was similar to above, I tested it before I fitted the faceplate to see what difference I might expect.
Fingers crossed DLM won't sell me short!
How long does it take to start after broadband goes live? Or should I disregard My Sky and consider it to be running?

Hi DLM starts 2 to 3 days after your line goes Live and runs for about 10 days

Re: Just checking . . .
DLM is running or has already finished and set your speed. Check your router log to see if you are re-syncing in the early hours of the morning. You are doing quite well at 5.5Mb with a 50db attenuation.

Go away for the weekend and return to:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4092 kbps 797 kbps
Line Attenuation 52 db 32 db
Noise Margin 7 db 14 db
*sigh* 5.5 was too good to be true
