      Master socket wiring

Sky technical services asked me to plug my router into the master socket.

When i removed the lower section of the socket the faceplate that i removed was not wired to the backplate like i have seen in these photos so the faceplate comes straight off

Sky User - How to remove the ring wire from your master socket

Does this matter or when i reconnect the faceplate will my main line not work. Could this also be the reason for getting a slow connection

How many sockets have you got in the house?

      Re: Master socket wiring

a extension goes to the sky box which plugs into the main socket downstairs ie not wired internally. This then allows a extension the runs up the stairs to be plugged into the back of this one and into the master socket.

Looking elsewhere the faceplate will only be wired if there are fixed extensions

      Re: Master socket wiring

Correct. If you have no hard wired extensions then there will be no cables in the faceplate. So long as these extensions are filtered at the master socket end you should be OK.

Make sure this is not plugged into the socket first, it must plug into a filter.
